How bad breath is associated with gingival disease

Harmful bacteria and volatile sulfur compounds in the mouth not only cause bad breath but they also lead to serious gum disease.

Three out of four of us suffer from some type of gingival disease, the most common one is gingivitis. The early signs are bleeding gums when you brush your teeth or floss between them. Most often it's caused by plaque or tartar. When periodontal pockets form the spaces between the teeth and gums become deeper and trap food, which then decays. If gum disease goes untreated bone loss occurs. Lastly, your teeth become loose and you lose them.

Research has proven that twice a day use of CloSYS oral rinse and toothpaste significantly and dramatically reduces your chance of getting gum disease (see the oral wellness page for research).

Bacteria on the tongue are trapped by papillae (tiny projections) and protected by many coatings. Using a TONGUE SCRAPER assists in the removal of the coatings and is an important step in the elimination of bad breath. We highly recommend scraping the tongue as a step in your regular oral hygiene routine.

We are highly health-conscious in the United States. But we don't pay much attention to the condition of our mouths. Recent medical research has shown that poor dental and oral health can lead to serious health problems for all of us. Please don't neglect your mouth.
